Day 96/365: Midnight Snack Starts Off Right With Squeezie Cheese

March 11, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

Photoshop Poster Edge

Yup, almost midnight and I forgot my picture of the day. Oops.  I quickly get out my camera and snap a quick pic of my favorite snack, in the dark, couldn’t even see through the window. So it’s blurry, but I like the arrangement, so it goes through Photoshop. Is there any improvement? Probably not, but it’s a reason to play around with effects. You be the judge, open to suggestions. This can be a lesson how to make a blurry, crappy photo look decent.

By the way, did you know that Party Cheese, cheese in a can, squeeze cheese is actually real cheese? I thought it was fake cheese, nope. First ingredients: milk, whey, water, milkfat. Wow! I’m impressed!

On One Photo Tools 2.5

Used the On One Phototool plug in tools I just downloaded thanks to the suggestion of my blogging friend at 365Project .  Just used the color boost and sharpen, with a fill flash, as you can see you can’t make a blurry picture sharp. I haven’t had a chance to really the program on a special photograph yet, but the free tools there are awesome and work in CS2 and up. Below is the original straight out of camera (SOOC)

Day 90/365: Bangles at Coop deVille

March 5, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

Bangle jewelry bracelet
Day 90-: Bangle bracelet,

This week I went shopping at one of my favorite stores, Coop DeVille & Feathers, in Louisville Nebraska. Both stores are a woman’s shopping heaven. Everything from funky jewelry, purses, whimsical gifts, and decorating doodads made out of the most unique items. Everything is displayed in the most creative fashion the whole place is a feast for the eyes in an array of color.

These bangle bracelets  is just of one of my favorite pictures, love the way I captured the sparkle and shine, but I took so many that I’m going to break the rule of the 365 project and post pictures from the same day in this series. Hey, it’s my project, so I can make the rules.  Make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a thing.  In the meantime you can visit the Coop de Ville & Feathers Facebook page.

Photoshop Notes: Cropped, added standard action layers, added more sharpness to the rhinestones, adjusted layers brought the right marker to the edge of the histogram, adjusted the color to get the original pink color of the bracelet. The original image is  below.

Day 88/365: Red Peppers

March 3, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

Day 88: Red Peppers

Took this at the  HyVee grocery store in Lincoln Nebraska. The produce department is a vast array of photo opportunities when there isn’t anything interesting during the brown, drab month of February and March.  I love red peppers in my food, especially sauteed chicken or pork, just makes a colorful addition to a dish. Other than that a pretty quick picture today.

Day 87/365: Victorias Secret, Shimmers

March 1, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

Day 87: Give Me the Shimmers

My daughter picked up this Victoria Secret “Give the the Shimmers” Sparkling Body Powder at Bit’s and Pieces and I instantly thought, it’s gotta be my photo of the day.  Fun pink glittering powder in a bottle with a super soft feather brush.

It’s more of a novelty for her dresser, but I think I need to try it sometime.

Photoshop Notes: normal action layers, bumped up the contrast and decreased the brightness. Sharpened the feathers a little. I’m going to play around with some curves and effects later. This will make a good subject.

Day 80/365: Colorful Gumballs

February 18, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

Day 80: Gumballs & Playing in Photoshop

Yes, my photo opportunities disappeared with the setting of the sun so I went into my daughters room for inspiration. This led me on a 30 minutes exploration into different Photoshop effects to brighten images and make my images “Pop”.  What better image to try this on than a container full of gumballs. All the colors of the rainbow.

I tried the Shadow/Highlight function which works well, and also adding a select color layer. I like that layer and might add it to my actions. You can tweak just certain colors in an image, like make the green or blue deeper or richer without affecting the whole image.I have another gumball image that I’ll post in my Flickr account. Should show up below in the right hand border soon.

I welcome Photoshop tips, I have CS2, no light box or anything else fancy, but I am looking to stretch.

Can you tell my kids aren’t home tonight? Otherwise I wouldn’t be on the computer.
