Day 268-269: The Longest Panoramic Photo

November 5, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

I love my job, really I do. Everyday is different, every day someone brings in new challenges and a project they envision and we make come to life. Where do I work? At a pro photography color lab, specifically Hamilton Color Lab in Omaha Nebraska. We can print just about any photography, just check out this 243″ panoramic print of the country of Jordan for Amoura Productions.

It was printed on a EPSON Stylus® Pro 9600 printer then took two people to laminate, all in one shot, with no splicing. Stay tuned later for the full story on how this came about on the Hamilton Facebook page.

Day 263-267: Memories of Growing Up in the 1970’s

November 4, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

My memories of growing up in the 1970s became a lot clearer when my Mom died. I became not only the executor of the estate but the family historian. As I went through my Mom’s things I found a box of my school papers and artwork from elementary school during the. I really think she kept every little thing I drew. Obviously I couldn’t keep everything, just selected a few things that I remembered drawing that had special meaning. The rest I tried to document in pictures.

Enjoy a trip down memory lane, it was the 1970’s, life was simple, The Monkees were popular, we didn’t have to wear bike helmets, skateboard knee pads, and could stay out all day without checking in with our cell phones. Life was indeed simpler.

Here is a sign of technology. Who remembers cereal boxes records? Real records printed on the backs of Fruit Loops and Tony the Tiger (Frosted Flakes) you cut out of the cardboard? This Monkees record was one of them. Pretty amazing. I remember wearing this record out by playing it over and over again, Archie was another Colgem record I remember. This is actually for sale, along with other 1970’s childrens records including the Disney movie soundtracks on 33 rpm records.

Relive the 1970’s

How many of you would like to relive the 1970’s or at least take a trip down memory lane? It’s amazing how much you can recapture just by shopping on Amazon. Vintage memorabilia is very popular, in a way it’s like dressing up in poodle skirts of the 1950’s when I was in high school. My Mom just shook her head. If you enjoyed growing up in the 1970s then share it with your kids, or be a kid again with your grandkids.

Days 262/365: Cheesecake Factory

November 3, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

My son loves cheesecake. So, when I asked him what he wanted to eat out for his last meal before he left for boot camp in the US Marine Corp he said, “Somewhere with cheesecake” Although I had never been there I figured the place with the best variety of cheesecake would be the Cheesecake Factory.

What a choice. He couldn’t make up his mind so he asked. “Can I choose more than one?” Who am I to say no to a son that will be leaving the next day for boot camp. Of course he could have two.

Day 258-261/365: Memories of Summer

November 2, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

As winter approaches, it’s nice to think about the lazy days of summer. Did I say lazy? Baseball games, softball games, go carting at Joes Carting in Council Bluffs, and a few barbeques thrown in between. I tried to fill the last few days I had with my son before he left for boot camp in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Post Production, Wedding Photography (Days 251-253)

October 28, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

One of the wonderful things about digital photography is the endless creative projects that can be created with wedding photography. While working at Hamilton Color Lab I have had the privilege of viewing some amazing photography and learning various styles of post production techniques.

These following photos were taken by Andy McDonald of Mirror Images Photography, but I’m including them in my 365 project because I did the post production. These were printed at the lab on Fuji Crystal Lustre Professional+ paper and mounted to paramount for open house/reception that took place three weeks after we moved. More on that later.
