Day 268-269: The Longest Panoramic Photo

November 5, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

I love my job, really I do. Everyday is different, every day someone brings in new challenges and a project they envision and we make come to life. Where do I work? At a pro photography color lab, specifically Hamilton Color Lab in Omaha Nebraska. We can print just about any photography, just check out this 243″ panoramic print of the country of Jordan for Amoura Productions.

It was printed on a EPSON Stylus® Pro 9600 printer then took two people to laminate, all in one shot, with no splicing. Stay tuned later for the full story on how this came about on the Hamilton Facebook page.

Post Production, Wedding Photography (Days 251-253)

October 28, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

One of the wonderful things about digital photography is the endless creative projects that can be created with wedding photography. While working at Hamilton Color Lab I have had the privilege of viewing some amazing photography and learning various styles of post production techniques.

These following photos were taken by Andy McDonald of Mirror Images Photography, but I’m including them in my 365 project because I did the post production. These were printed at the lab on Fuji Crystal Lustre Professional+ paper and mounted to paramount for open house/reception that took place three weeks after we moved. More on that later.

Day, “Who Knows What”, of My 365 Project???

October 25, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

Ok, I’m officially lost. I took pictures throughout my absence from this project, but for the life of me I’m sure I can’t figure out what number is which. All I know is I should be on Day 329 and I left off on Day 243 with a few in between thrown in for good measure.  That means I’m 86 days behind. Which in reality I’m not going to be able to make up. So I’m going to post my photos in groups and maybe number them.

Enjoy catching up with my life the past few months.

Here are a few snapshots of August.

Now I’m four less behind, how many more left to go? I’m trying…but might not make it.

Day 238/365: Last Day on Block Island

August 23, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

Sachem Pond, Block Island
Sachem Pond, Block Island

My last Block Island post, sad and reflective at the same time. Was the trip what I expected? Yes. Do I wish I had more time to sit and relax? Yes. Will I be back? Yes. Block Island is a mixture of personalities, the wild untamed Mohegan Cliffs to the calm water on Sachem Pond. It’s invigorating and calming at the same time.

I ate amazing food, took a moped around the island and found out that yes, mopeds can go 50 mph, laid in the sun and did absolutely nothing. There is nothing like salt air and open skies to cleanse the mind and rejuvenate the spirit.

When I return, and I will return, I will head back to the Narragansett Inn. It was the perfect place to stay on a perfect island.

Day 235/365: Crescent Beach on Block Island

August 16, 2011 by info@3QuartersToday.com

My Favorite Place on Earth

If someone asked me where my favorite place on earth would be I would say Block Island. This tiny strip of earth is located 12 miles off shore of Rhode Island and is only accessible by ferry from Point Judith or Old Saybrook. I believe there is another ferry launch area, but we always left from Rhode Island, even though I lived in East Hartford. I started going to Block Island when I was in high school and during the 1980’s we walked off the boat and parked our beach blankets on the sands of Crescent Beach.

Crescent Beach is the most popular beach on Block Island, it’s within easy walking distance from the Ferry Docks, has a full service beach house complete with showers, bathrooms, and a wonderful concessions to eat lunch. Block Island is an oasis in New England. The soft white sands are a contrast to the rocky pebbly beaches of Connecticut and the water is sparkling blue.

Personalized Block Island Beach Towel

Much of this is due to being twelve miles off shore and away from the sheltered waterways of Long Island Sound which tend to “trap” pollution, debris and make the beaches a little foamy and dirtier. Block Island reminds me of the Caribbean, a little slice of heaven.
