Squeaky Dog Toy Passes the Jack Russell Test

March 1, 2015 by info@3QuartersToday.com

Indestructible Squeaky Dog Toy Test Continues

It’s been a week 3 years (update) since we bought the PetSafe dog toy and the verdict is in! It is truly an indestructible dog toy and it squeaks! It can not be destroyed. My Jack Russell, Brody, has given it over over a week of intense heavy chewing and biting. He has almost driven himself insane and he can’t tear it apart. If you don’t believe me watch the video below. (Update: 3 years later, the toy survives)

Brody is what you call a super-chewer in the dog world. He may be only twenty pounds but he has jaws of steel and a biting grip worthy of a dog twice his size. Don’t worry, shortly after I made this video I did get Leah her own Booya toy also.

Toughest Squeaky Dog Toy Ever

The Busy Buddy line of dog toys are tough, in fact, the toughest I’ve ever tried and I have tried almost every dog toy from Tuffy toys, to Kongs and Kyjens. The Nylabones last, but don’t squeak. Brody is bored unless a toy makes noise.

The goal, find a fun, tough, indestructible squeaky toy to last more than a day.

Jack Russell Destroying a Dog Toy

My goal became an obsession. I canvased pet store aisles, even the grocery store and hardware stores searching for the toughest dog toy available.

Squeaky tennis balls he shredded and I found tiny bits all over the living room floor. The squeaker dog mats with multiple squeakers lasted longer. Plush dog toys rip easy.

My terrier is a little terror, he is orally motivated and very tenacious. Food and noise get his attention. This Booya Squeaker toy gets his attention and keeps it. In fact, there are now two so all the dogs can play and squeak to their heart’s delight.

As you can see in the video, Leah the Boxer didn’t have a chance the first couple of days. Another plus is I can put dog treats, cookies and their food inside the Booya for an added bonus. This has kept both dogs engaged and entertained the whole afternoon.

Where to Find the Indestructible Squeaky Dog Toys

The verdict is in, the toughest dog toys are made by PetSafe and this one is my favorite by far. Stay tuned for continuing updates as the months go by to see how it stands up over time. It is one tough dog toy.

More Tough Dog Toys for Aggressive Chewers

PetSafe makes the best dog toys for chewers but, I’m a little biased.  Kong, Tuffy and Nylabone make some good ones too.

Finally Found an Indestructible Squeaky Dog Toy!

February 22, 2015 by info@3QuartersToday.com

chew toys for aggressive chewersPetSafe Squeak N Treat Booya

I am so excited! For more than ten years I have been trying to find indestructible squeaky toys for my dog Brody, a Jack Russell terrier.

Seriously, there is a basket of defluffed dog toys sitting in my living room as evidene. He can tear apart hundreds of dollars of squeaky plush dog toys within minutes.

There are remnants of  dog toy fluff under the couch right now.  If the toy contains a squeaker it will get destroyed.

Pet companies sent boxes of samples for testing. No luck. Some were canvas dog toys made of fire hydrant material.  Brody is more persistent than a tiger with his squeaky toys. Don’t believe the tiger test.

Most tough dog toys designed for strong chewers normally don’t have squeakers. So unless I could put food inside he soon lost interest.

Chew Toys for Agressive Chewers

The best dog toy I have ever found, up to this point, is the Busy Buddy bone, which I bought shortly after I brought Brody home (he was a rescue). BUT, it doesn’t squeak.

Even after ten years of chewing and being left in the backyard the Busy Buddy survives.  It takes hundreds of hours of abuse and survives.

Squeaky Dog Toys for Aggressive Chewers

I always wanted Petsafe Pet Products to release a squeaky dog toy with this material and they HAVE!!

My husband and I went to Bass Pro Shop, and displayed on an end cap at the front of the store were PetSafe dog toys.

Look what I found!  The first treat dispensing dog toy that squeaks.

Brody has been chewing on it for six hours (update 2 years) and it barely is scratched!

My Jack Russell is a  small to medium dog but I get him larger toys so it was the large sized Booya toy for him.

On the scale of chew intensity Brody is extreme and can easily squeeze the rubber to make it squeak. He is a little bit obsessed with it and I don’t expect the behavior to change.

chew toys for aggressive chewersI’m going to have to get two or three they are that good. My Boxer just has to wait her turn, or begs me to take it away from Brody.

The rubber is infused with a vanilla scent, much like the bacon infused Nylabone he loves.

Here is the VIDEO of Brody chewing on his Booya dog toy. This dog toy is amazing and puts all the others to shame.

I have filled it a couple times with treats for Leah (the Boxer) because although she is bigger. She doesn’t have the “chew and destroy” drive of the terrier. With full confidence I can say this is an indestructible squeaky toy for dogs of all kinds of dogs.

Where to find an Indestructible Squeaky Toy

If your faJack Russell Destroying a Dog Toyvorite pet store (or Bass ProShop) doesn’t carry the Busy Buddy Booya the head on over Amazon, they have everything. Premier-Pet Products has a whole line of indestructible dog toys, they are also the makers of the Gentle Leader dog harness that stopped Brody from pulling on his leash.

Hands down PetSafe dog toys are the best dogs toys for chewers!

Funny and Humorous Books For Photographers

December 4, 2012 by info@3QuartersToday.com

Photography isn’t always serious. To me it’s a way to relax and have fun. To a professional photographer just being able to to laugh at themselves or the industry is almost a necessity, or else they would go crazy. You need to have a little fun with photography, that’s why most of us got into it to begin with.

So what is a camera buff do when they don’t have a camera in their hands? Read about photography, and not just serious technical stuff either, sometimes it’s just having fun again. Here are my favorite photography books. Keep these in mind for Christmas, a birthday, Mothers Day, anniversary, or just any time is perfect to give a gift to someone you love.

What the Duck: I’ve been reading this comic online for quite sometime and it’s well worth having on the coffee table. If you haven’t gotten enough of the first book try adding What the Duck, Rule of Nerds to the collection.

Awkward Family Photos: This series has gone viral and taken the industry by storm. What poses, props, and settings we once thought were cute have now become a bad joke. Really good for a laugh. There are now Awkward Family calenders, games, and even puzzles. But the puzzle might be stretching it a bit. The partner to the Awkward Famy Photos is the  Awkward Pet Photos just as funny and we wonder why our kids grow up weird and our pets look at us funny.

PhotoJojo: Now it’s time to get off the couch and actually create some unique and funny photos. This book is full of DIY (do it yourself) photo projects that will keep anyone busy for the afternoon. Even the dog. Is that a camera cam on his head? Photocrafts have become very popular and another alternative in displaying your photos. The ease of digital photography has opened up a wide range of paper crafts for weddings, graduations and parties.

I Can Has Cheeszeburger: Now it’s the cats turn. Why is it cats are so amusing in posed photos? Maybe because they can be posed and propped with everything from beer cans to books and everything in between. Dogs won’t do that, that’s why they wear the video cam on their head (see above). If cats were to wear a video cam it would be VERY boring.

Photography doesn’t need to be serious, it’s photos like these that have created great internet memes and made some people millionaires. Think of Grumpy Cat. Someone had to take a photo of him. You never know, maybe you’ll be the next internet sensation.

My Boxer, No Longer a Puppy

September 24, 2012 by info@3QuartersToday.com

My dog Leah, is no longer a puppy as she officially turned a year old in August. She has gained that regal Boxer look, and she is still very sweet. Thinks she’s a lap dog and owns the couch, I don’t even know why I own a couch for us to sit on, my husband and I sit on the lazy boys and the two dogs take the couch.

Unlike Brody, my Jack Russell, Leah doesn’t chew and destroy her squeaky toys, nor does she jump on people or bark like crazy when the doorbell rings. Leah babies her stuffed animals and loves them. Maybe it’s the difference between the sexes as she is a female (bitch) and Brody is a male. Or maybe it’s just Brodys’ terrier nature of a hunter.

My Princess “Leah”

If you’re wondering, she was not named after the Star Wars character, Princess Lei, but after a boxer, we knew named Princess, and a derivation of my Leo, my Dad’s name who loved Boxers.

Introducing Leah the Boxer

May 3, 2012 by info@3QuartersToday.com

Leah, a Brindle Boxer

Introducing the newest member of our family, Leah a brindle Boxer. She’s now eight months old and I’m a little late in posting her pictures, but here’s a snapshot of her life so far.

She’s a sweet little girl, smart as a tack, and  extremely gentle. Only heard her bark twice, she learned to walk on a loose lead in just a few days and that in itself takes some getting used to as my Jack Russel, Brody is like a freight train at the end of the leash.

Speaking of Brody he took to her right away and is extremely tolerant. At first I thought he was picking on her. Nope the other way around. Leah used Brody’s hind legs as teething toys. Literally, as Brody would walk or run by Leah would take the opportunity to grab at his hocks. Most of the time my ferocious Jack Russell would roll over and let her continue to chew, all the while “growling and complaining.” He really does love her.

At one time Leah could easily walk under Brody’s stomach, now it’s the other way around. She’s almost done growing, at least in height, but based on her food intact she has a lot of filling out to do before she’s mature.
