Don’t know the name of this flower, but my friend Beth and I were testing out various macro’s on our cameras and this came out pretty decent. I liked the blue contrast against the green and it’s just so unusual. Anyone know it’s name?

Day 197/365: Day Lily in All It’s Orange Glory
Lilies were my Grandmothers flowers. She lived in Oklahoma and they loved the heat. Seemed that’s the only thing that would bloom in 100F weather.
Day 194/365: Summer Lily, start of Summer Flowers
During the summer, after the blooming of the irises come the daylilies. I’m not too much of a lily person, but they are in my exiting flower beds so I gotta take what God gives and I need to appreciate all flowers, even those that grow like weeds and crowd out all the other flowers.
They are very hardy and seem to thrive where ever they are planted. I often see them on the roadsides or in the middle of a field where there once was a homestead or house. The farm house may of not survived, but nature still lives on with passion. Someone told me this yellow Day Lily is a Stella de Ora
Day lillies are drought resistant, which make them an ideal landscaping flower for southwestern states and areas with water restrictions.

Day 185/365: Peony Garden
Another peony garden in Elmwood, Nebraska. It was a very windy day, so no flower porn macros. Peonies normally start blooming in May and are in full bloom for Memorial Day. For this reason many graves have peonies planted so they will naturally decorate the graves.
I sometimes get strange looks as I drive around Elmwood, get out and crouch on the ground to take photographs of flowers. But, for the most part people are used to me and my camera.
182/365: Pink Peonies
I’ve decided to take pictures of as many different types and colors of peonies I can this season. I did it with tulips and daffodils, so why not. There are so many colors and it peony season, although pink is the most prevalent. Only last a few short weeks so I think I’ll go out today and see what I can find.
Post Production Photoshop Notes: Used an artistic dry brush with a pink layer at low opacity. Gave it a softer yet detailed look I liked. Below is the straight out of camera.
